Developing our Low Notes ….
Your embouchure position is the key. Once again we need to understand exactly where and what our embouchure does when playing in our low register. There are so many wonderful possibilities to developing & enjoying a rich, full, low register. One that is always there when you need it!
We shall also explore the use of dynamics, various tone colour possibilities and overall confidence of never having a 'hit or miss' situation, but playing with assurance that your low notes will always be here for you!
Exercises :
Moyse: De La Sonorite. pg 10
5 finger exercise
Single tonguing & legato with descending patterns of 2, 3, 4 and 5 notes.. in our low register
Repertoire:
Fauré Pavane
In addition : I would like you to choose a piece that you love using your low register or maybe you have a piece of repertoire which poses challenges of moving form your high register to your low register?
The solution is simple. Understanding your embouchure movement with the use of the bottom jaw. Getting that bottom lip out of the way!!!! After all, we do need to get our air down into the flute!

Trill time…
Have you ever practiced trills? Do you understand trills?
Trills are very special ornaments, and a beautiful addition to our musical performance.
A trill can bring us to our great finale or give us the calm of ending a special moment within the music. All with the simplest of movement - 2 notes.
But we need to practice our trills!
In this class we shall review our scales and introduce the way to practice and understand trills as well as the grace ones that attach themselves ot the trills!
It is not a question of ‘how many wiggles’. Like all other aspects of music the careful placement within the musical line without distorting the rhythm or line of the music is imperative to a good performance.
