Reels, Jigs, Rhythm and more..

Have you ever wanted to get a bit more crispiness in your playing?  Maybe a stronger inner sense of rhythm?  Maybe you have heard a classical piece or catchy folk tune that you play by ear, that you want to get just that bit more sparkly?   

Whether we are approaching playing a Telemann Sonata, an Irish Jig or a simple tune, the elements of playing are always the same.  Good rhythm, clear tonguing, in tune playing.

In this session, being so close to St. Patrick’s day, we will explore how to bring these elements into your everyday playing of simple tunes like: Danny Boy, Brian Boru, the Irish Washerwoman and traditional jig!  

We will once again explore how your daily practice takes hold of bringing these and many other tunes to life.

Throughout our session some of you will also have an opportunity to play one of your favourite Irish pieces for our class and be coached by Lady Galway... and don’t forget to wear your green!

It’s review time!

I am wondering how you are all getting on? 

My questions to you are:

• Can you see and tell us of your progress these past few months ?
• Do you notice improvement in little things or maybe big ones?
• Maybe you can play longer and more smoothly in your playing?
• Maybe you are beginning to notice the line of the phrase or hear the notes before you play them?
• Maybe scales are beginning to make sense or you are just enjoying playing your flute more?
• and…. is their anything that is still a bit of a ‘hiccup' in your playing?

As we approach our Springtime review we shall look together as a group on your progress.

In our discussions, I hope also to show you what process you have made!

Sometimes we cannot see our progress ourselves, as others can.

As you prepare for this session maybe take some notes to share with the group and also choose your favourite piece of repertoire to play for the class as we enjoy our Springtime review together!

So let us begin today and approach  our daily practice a playing with  confidence and an "air of exploration" ..
