Lady Galway Adult Learner Series - 28 March

Join us on 28th March as we learn with Lady Jeanne Galway.  if you are an Adult Learner who would love to further your studies, these sessions will be perfect for you.

This session we will be working on finding, recognising, following & developing the musical line in everything you play.

Whether you are practicing your Scales, Etudes or your favourite musical composition… at the end of the day, we are musicians.

Composers have a very clear idea of the musical line (dictated by the harmonic structure) within each phrase they are bringing to us through their compositions.  However as flutists, who mainly play the top line of a chamber or solo work, we sometimes have difficulty recognising the intent of the composer or even the line of a few notes.

In this session we will discuss :

  • Recognising the harmonic line below and within the phrase
  • Where and how we fit our breathing in so as not to disturb the musical phrase
  • Dynamics, colour and subtle changes
  • How to use these techniques to bring out the musical line and more

With all your new techniques at your fingertip you will now be able to incorporate them into your repertoire and all technical exercises, thus bringing you more freedom within your playing.

Whether you are practicing your morning tone exercises, or the Poulenc Sonata the message is always the same; music, music, music.

Please have the list of repertoire you are working on so we can work together to help you continue to grow musically, and play your flute each day just a bit more!

This session will be recorded and available to view until 30th April 2024.
