Let's March..
As a young flutist, Summer was marching time for me. Growing up in marching bands through my early years, we were introduced to playing piccolo as well as marches on flute. Composers like John Phillip Sousa kept us on our toes.
Marching has many benefits, first and foremost developing a good sense of rhythm and tackling technical challenges while playing and marching….and keeping our flutes steady as we move!
In this session I invite you to find a March, perhaps one you grew with from your home country or one that catches your ear every time you hear it? We also invite you also to play piccolo if you like!
Watch how your rhythm and understanding of 2/4 & 6/8 becomes stronger within your playing simply by marching and concentrating on a steady rhythm, along with having a familiar tune to hum along to.
