Going Low with Lady Galway
Are you having a bit of difficulty playing those beautiful full Low notes on your flute?
Would you like more variety of the colour and suppleness down low?
How about being able to get that embouchure of yours to know where to go and what to do?
No matter where we are in our playing we can always improve upon what we already know and have at our disposal.
The low notes on the flute, as Mr Moyse says, need careful attention. “The column of air must pass through an increasingly long passage”. ( M. Moyse- De La Sonoitè).
Our embouchure position is the key.
In these sessions this month we shall work together on understanding and finding that embouchure that works for you in your low register. We shall help you not only find these luscious low notes, but also change colour and dynamics.
We shall help you develop more overall confidence of never having a 'hit or miss' situation, but playing with assurance that your low notes will always be here for you!

Going Real Low with Lady Jeanne & Guest Artist Chris Potter
Low Flute specialist, good friend and Galway Flute Academy Artist, Chris Potter will be joining us on this very exciting session.
Chris has a very deep and experienced understanding of the Low Flutes - Alto, Bass, Contra, Sub-Contra and even lower.
Through Ms. Potter's numerous lectures, appearances, books and videos she has shown us she really understands the challenges playing the Lower Flutes.
In this session Chris will be offering suggestions and exercises on developing a low register that is flexible, powerful when needed and has something important to say.
There will also be a nice discussion between Chris and Lady Galway along with time for Q & A..
So get those Low flutes dusted off and have a blow before we meet as this is surely a session you do not want to miss to be apart of!
All sessions will be recorded and available to view until 31st March 2026.
