Summer waltzes.. 3/4 and more..
Throughout the years dance music has played huge part in the development of classical music and the music we as flutists play today. We see this throughout the various eras of Baroque, Classical and the 20th century, until today with composers ranging from Bach, Handel, Telemann, Couperin, Mozart, Godard, Kreisler, Strauss, incorporating these dances with their compositions.
Words you see every day on the top of your music such as :
Minuet, Bourrreè, Saraband, Gigue, Gavotte, Passacaglia, Polonaise, Tambourin, Waltzes and Tangos are so familiar to us in words.
In these summer sessions we shall be delving into various styles and repertoire that you are familiar with, while enjoying playing the pieces you love. We shall work on how to make our playing a bit lighter, more joyous and legato all while keeping the style of the composer and using all those wonderful techniques we have been working on.
If you are new to these sessions, do not worry, help is at hand, I shall guide you as you ask your questions and come on screen to play your favourite pice of dance music.
This session will be recorded and available to view until 27 August 2025.
