Encores and more Parts I & II
Welcome to our June Summer Sessions!
As the days grow warmer and a lightness of spirit takes over our days, shall we bring this also into our flute playing?
This month's sessions are all about having fun, enjoying your progress, your practice and exploring new or old repertoire that brings some lightness to your musical spirit. Enjoyment is the key word here.
Whether we are playing our scales up and down the flute or tonguing away or just playing a few nice tone exercises the key is to Enjoy. As we always say here at the Galway Flute Academy “approach your playing with an air of exploration not frustration”.
We are so fortunate to have a huge array of repertoire at our fingertips. A short tune, a lively waltz or dance, these short lively melodies always lift us and the listener. Sir James brought this forward at the start of his solo career and it was an instant success.
With this in mind I would like to encourage you to choose a new piece; or a familiar one that brings a lightness of spirit to your playing.
Find a piece that is short and sweet, whether it be a folk tune or short lyrical melody. Go through your library of music and just play a few pieces for pure fun. If you have a technical bit that needs attention, take the time to work it out and bring it to our next session. These little pieces will help you build a nice program to play for others or add as a short encore.
Keeping your daily practice going, you will find how these short little (encore piece ) come alive and invigorate your musical spirit!
This session will include Q&A
This session will be recorded and available to view until 31st June 2026.
